PLUS Extra Plays to New Rock Hall of Fame Inductees!
GREATGOLD.FM (04/01/2017) – The traditional wisdom is that April Showers bring May Flowers, but, this April brings more than April Showers followed by May Flowers. It brings Special Attention to April born singers and to the bands with members born in April. Plus, April also brings the annual ceremony to honor the latest inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. The latter includes our tribute to the latest inductees by playing their songs more often all month long.
The 32nd Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Friday, April 7, 2017 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2017 Induction Ceremony was set to be televised on HBO, and a radio broadcast scheduled on SiriusXM.
Artists are eligible for inclusion in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first recording. The 2017 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Performer Inductees were chosen by more than 900 voters, as well as the aggregate results of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s online fan vote.
The top five artists from the fan vote comprised the Fans’ Ballot that was tallied alongside the other ballots to determine the 2017 Inductees. Four of the winners of the Fans’ Ballot (ELO, Journey, Pearl Jam, and Yes) will be inducted as performers in 2017. Other 2017 performer inductees are Joan Baez and Tupac Shakur.
Nile Rodgers receives the 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum Award for Musical Excellence. The award is made in recognition of his work with the disco era popular band called Chic and numerous other recording projects through the years. Nile Rodgers rocked beyond the boundaries of disco with guitar riffs fundamental to Hip-Hop, Rock and EDM.
Starting in 1979, Rodgers and bass player Bernard Edwards tried their hand at production and scored a massive success right out of the gate with Sister Sledge’s “We are Family.” In the 1980s Rodgers became one of the most sought after producers, helping to create albums that redefined an artist’s career, including Diana Ross, David Bowie, INXS, Madonna, Duran Duran, The B-52s, and the Vaughn Brothers.
In the process of producing hit albums, Rodgers developed his own dance-rock signature sound that was imitated by numerous artists in a range of music styles. The 80s and 90s also saw him arranging film scores, releasing solo albums, and even reforming a version of CHIC. Nile Rodgers has left his mark on rock and roll, and any of today’s dance band, funk-inspired, soul groove, electro musicians can trace their roots right back to him.
